5th Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery has a proud history of forty-one years. Initially, the Regiment was employed in inherent Artillery duties but later had to perform Infantry Role. Due to this, nearly 350 men were unable to attend the compulsory Artillery Post Depot Course. To rectify this long pending matter, Colonel Commandant directed the Commander Artillery Brigade to see the possibility of conducting courses at the premises of 5(V) SLA SEENAPURA. Effort taken by the Commander Artillery Brigade became a success and 5(V) SLA marked another historic milestone. They were given 3x122 mm Guns to start training. Commandant School of Artillery graced the Inauguration and opening address as the Chief Guest and commenced the training on 3rd March 2021.
