The Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery held a Ceremony to bid farewell to Major General J C Rambukpotha RSP USP ndc psc IG who retired from the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army on 7th June 2015 at RHQ premises Panagoda. Events of the Programme were commenced with laying a floral wreath to the Regimental Monument by the Chief Guest in honour of the fallen heroes of the Regiment. Guard Turnout and Regimental Parade was accorded in honour of the outgoing Senior Gunner Officer followed by several other functions in customary manner. The event was held on 18th June 2015 and it was attended by many senior officers and other ranks of Sri Lanka Artillery.\r\n\r\nMajor General J C Rambukpotha joined the Sri Lanka Army on 11th August 1980 and after being commissioned, had posted to 4th Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery. During his unblemished military career which was spanning nearly 35 years, he had been holding various key appointment in Sri Lanka Army such as Commanding Officer - 6th Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery, Commandant - School of Artillery, Senior General Staff Officer - Overall Operation Command Headquarters (North), Commander of both 554 and 516 Brigades, Commander - Artillery Brigade, General Officer Commanding - 56 Division, Commander - Security Force Headquarters (East), Principle Staff Officer as Master General Ordnance, Commandant - Defence Services Command and Staff College and Chief of Staff to Office of the Chief of Defence Staff in addition to holding office as Colonel Commandant of Regiment of Artillery for almost five years. \r\n\r\nWhile addressing the Gunners both at the Regimental Parade and Farewell Dinner, he paid his gratitude to all officers and other ranks for their generous support extended during his entire career as a Gunner Officer with the Regiment and especially as a Colonel Commandant. \r\n\r\nThe complexion of the day was textured with tea party at WOs’ and Sgts’ Mess, all rank lunch at 4th Artillery ORs’ Mess and Dinner Night at Officers’ Mess.
