Maj Gen P R Wanigasooriya VSV USP ndu USACGSC assumed duties as the Commander, SF HQ (J) on 15 July 2019. Stand for the traditions and norms of the Army, a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour was accorded in customary way.

Then as a symbolic gesture of taking over the command, Maj Gen Ruwan Wanigasooriya placed his signature for a formal document after a brief religious observance. The itinerary has included with a troops address, planting a sapling and revering the fallen war heroes by laying a floral wreath at at the SF HQ (J) War Heroes' Monument.
