Student Officers from the Senior Command Course 16 (SCC 16), comprising 51 Student Officers, and Junior Command Course 35 (JCC 35), comprising 91 Student Officers currently undergoing training at the Army War College (AWC) Buttala, embarked on an educational study visit to the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA), Diyatalawa on 26 February 2026. The visit was organised as part of the course curriculum to enhance and refresh knowledge related to key military drills and procedures of the Sri Lanka Army.
Upon arrival, the visiting delegation was warmly welcomed by the Head of Training Team of SLMA, Lieutenant Colonel T Wijewardena USP psc, at the main entrance. The Student Officers received an introduction to ceremonial drills, followed by Demonstrations on Street Line, Guard Turnout, Guard of Honour, Guard Mounting and Dismounting, and Staff Parade. A Funeral Drill Demonstration was conducted at Fox Hill, marking the conclusion of the visit.
During the study tour, the Student Officers also visited the Officer Cadets' Mess. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for the Student Officers to witness and gain knowledge on key military drills. The visiting delegation was accompanied by Colonel DPASA Witharana psc, the Chief Instructor, Senior Instructors, Directing Staff, and Administrative Staff of Army War College.
