ARMY WAR COLLEGE HOSTS THIRD BOARD OF MANAGEMENT MEETING

The Army War College, Buttala, successfully convened its 3rd Board of Management meeting on 25 February 2026, presided over by Maj Gen DKSK Dolage USP nps psc, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, and deliberated on pivotal aspects of infrastructure development and modernization of teaching and learning processes, paving the way for enhanced operational efficacy.

During his address to student officers of the Junior Command Course and Senior Command Course, the Chief of Staff, before presiding over the Board of Management meeting, underscored the quintessential qualities of leadership and stressed the imperative necessities of professional development, inspiring future leaders of the Sri Lanka Army. His thought-provoking speech was followed by a generous donation of a personal collection of books to the college library, a gesture that will enrich the academic pursuits of the students.

The Board of Management meeting enhanced the participation of key stakeholders, including the Director General General Staff, Commandant Army War College, Director General Research, Concept and Doctrine, Director Budget and Finance Management, Director Engineer Services, Col Training, representing Director Training, and Chief Instructor Army War College. The collective expertise and insights shared during the meeting heightened the institution's commitment to excellence in military education.

The day’s proceedings were preceded with the ceremonial ‘Drive Past’ bestowed to the visiting Chief of Staff of the Army and a group photograph, followed by an interaction with the Commandant and staff of the Army War College. The Chief of Staff, visiting BOM members and other stakeholders together with the Commandant and the staff of the Army War College took part in a lunch at the Officers' Mess, fostering camaraderie and esprit de corps.

Additionally, they also inspected the ongoing construction work of the India-Sri Lanka Friendship Sports Complex, a testament to the strong bilateral ties between Sri Lanka and India.

The Commandant Army War College, Maj Gen DKRN Silva RSP USP psc presented a plaque to the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army expressing gratitude for his invaluable contribution to the meeting and the institution. The Third Board of Management meeting concluded on a high note, with its productive deliberations poised to propel the Army War College towards greater heights of academic and operational excellence.
