DIRECTING STAFF EMERGES VICTORIOUS IN ARMY WAR COLLEGE CRICKET TOURNAMENT

The Army War College Cricket Tournament conducted during the First Trimester of the year 2026, was a thrilling event that showcased the talents and sportsmanship, camaraderie and event planning skills where a series of 13 matches were played among 14 teams and concluded on 14 February 2026 at the college playground. The matches were scheduled in evenings allowing both players and spectators to actively participate without disturbing the training schedules.

Fourteen teams representing Senior Command Course 16 (SCC 16), Junior Command Course 35 (JCC 35), Directing Staff and Permanent Staff: Four teams from SCC 16, eight teams from JCC 35, one team from the Directing Staff and one team from the Permanent Staff, took part in the tournament.

The Commandant of Army War College, Major General DKRN Silva RSP USP psc, graced the occasion of final encounter as the Chief Guest together with the participation of Deputy Commandant, Chief Instructor, Faculty members and Permanent Staff.

Directing Staff Team and JCC Syndicate Two made it to the final encounter after playing two highly competitive semifinals.

After a thrilling competition, Directing Staff Team became the Champion of the tournament and JCC Syndicate Two secured the Runners-up. Major LHM Chandrasiri SLASC (JCC) emerged as the Best Batsman while Major WSM Fernando SLE (JCC) became the Best Bowler. Major RMND Rathnayake psc SLAC (DS), showcased an outstanding performance and his exceptional skills earned him the Man of the Match award. Major HMDP Herath SLEME (JCC) was awarded Man of the Series for his consistent excellence throughout the tournament.
