SENIOR COMMAND COURSE 16 CONCLUDES COLOMBO STUDY TOUR

The Student Officers of Senior Command Course (SCC) 16, the potential future Commanding Officers of the Sri Lanka Army, successfully concluded their scheduled study tour to Colombo on 10 February 2026. This visit facilitated first-hand exposure to the Directorate of Operations, the Directorate of Military Intelligence, and the Directorate of Personnel Administration at Army Headquarters, Battaramulla, followed by an industrial visit to Bodyline (Pvt) Ltd, Horana.

The Army War College delegation, led by the Commandant, Major General D K R N Silva RSP USP psc, were warmly received by the Director of Training. During the visit, Student Officers enhanced their understanding of strategic operational planning and administration through detailed briefings conducted by the respective Directorates.

Following a group photograph with the Chief of Staff, Principal Staff Officers, and Senior Officers, the Student Officers were privileged to attend a comprehensive briefing by the Chief of Staff, Major General D K S K Dolage USP nps psc. His presentation focused on the contemporary challenges confronted by Battalion Commanders and the administration of troops. He further stressed the importance of grooming subordinates, task-oriented troop commitment, and the Army’s ‘Way Forward’ Strategy’. An interactive Q&A session followed, allowing Student Officers to engage directly with the organization’s top leadership.

To conclude the programme, the AWC delegation visited Bodyline (Pvt) Ltd, Horana. Director Human Resources and Sustainable Business and the team, provided an insightful briefing on the company’s organisational concepts, Human Resources practices, and functions. This productive tour offered the Student Officers a vital opportunity to gain knowledge from both key military and non-military sectors.
