RELICS BESTOWED TO ARMY WAR COLLEGE ENSHRINED AT DEEGAVAPIYA

Coinciding with the occasion of visiting the temple of historic “Rahatankanda Hermitage” located in the vicinity of the Army War College by new Commandant Major General H H K S S Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc after assuming duties, the Chief Incumbent of the hermitage Venerable Elpitiye Sumanarathana Thero bestowed the Army War College with the sacred omniscient relics to be kept respectably for the homage of its troops on 13 July 2024. The procession carrying the float containing the omniscient relics to the Auditorium of the Army War College was held with a brief ceremony followed by ‘Seth Pirith’ chanting administered by the ‘Maha Sanga’. The meritorious event was attended by the Deputy Commandant and the staff together with the Student Officers.

On the following day, the omniscient relics were taken by the Commandant with all due respect and ceremonially enshrined at the newly-renovated ancient “Deegawapiya” pagoda in Ampara where the enshrinement ceremony was officially held at the historical site on 14 July 2024.
