SENIOR COMMAND COURSE STUDENTS VISIT LANKA SUGAR COMPANY (PVT) LTD PELWATTE

Student Officers of Senior Command Course (SCC) No 11 conducted an industrial visit to Lanka Sugar Company (PVT) Ltd, Pelwatte on 08 July 2024. The visiting delegation that consisted of the Student Officers of SCC 11 and Directing Staff was headed by the Acting Chief Instructor, Colonel THMDRM Peiris RSP psc.

The Township Manager, Mr. Eranga Bandara, and his staff extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation at the entrance of the auditorium. Thereafter, delegation witnessed a comprehensive presentation on Lanka Sugar Company (PVT) Ltd which was conducted by the Township Manager and his staff. The presentation conducted at the Auditorium covered the significant role that Lanka Sugar Company plays in the national economy as a major contributor to revenue generation to the national economy.

As the second session of the visit, Mr. Lahiru Galagamaarachchi, Deputy General Manager (HR) also conducted a presentation on Human Resource Management (HRM) which covered how they manage the workforce and activities to help rural farmers and workers to uplift their socioeconomic and living standards. Further, he stressed upon modern HRM trends that they are adopting to reach the company goals. The Deputy HR manager gave an insight on how hard to manage the various tradesmen with wide variety of socio, political backgrounds in one institute.

Finally, the visiting team had the opportunity to visit the factory area. Then, Student Officers were able to observe the operational function of the factory, which could be considered as life-time experience and a clear understanding of the entire production process. Subsequently, the Student Officers had an opportunity to see the proper industrial management mechanism with human resource management aspects to achieve the organizational goals.
