AWC CELEBRATE INDEPENDENCE DAY

To coincide with the National independence day celebration proceedings at Galle Face Green in Colombo, Army War College (AWC) celebrated the 76th Independence Day commemorating of the independence gained from the British rule on 04 February 1948.

Commencing the set programme of the day's arrangements, the Commandant of AWC Major General Dinesh Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc hoisted the National Flag at the AWC Headquarters premises while the Deputy Commandant was hoisting the Army Flag where the Chief Instructor, Senior Instructors, Senior Officers, Members of the Faculty, Permanent Staff, all the Student Officers and Other Ranks attended.

Just after flag hoisting ceremony, a two-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to the fallen war heroes.

Then, all the officers and other ranks including civil staff witnessed the live telecast of the National Independence Day Parade at the AWC Auditorium.
