Ven. Balangoda Radha Thero Interacts with AWC Troops during a Spiritual Development Program

Ven. Balangoda Radha Thero, Chief Incumbent, Belihuloya 'Seela Samahitha Yogashramaya' carrying his message of Dhamma to the Army War College (AWC) as a part of a spiritual development program, pioneered by the Commandant of the AWC Major General UKDDP Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, conducted Dhamma sermon to a congregation of more than 300 pious viewers consisting all Student Officers, Faculty and permanent staff as well as the Other Ranks serving at the AWC along with their close relatives on Sunday 17 September 2023.

The Dhamma sermon program was organized by the Administrative Staff of the AWC on the guidelines given by the Commandant with the objective of promoting moral development and spiritual understanding among the student officers and other troops.

During the Dhamma Sermon, Ven. Balangoda Radha Thero who has envisioned a Buddhist community called “Ama Dora Viwara Viya”, covered the importance of mindfulness, mental health, moral conduct and well-being, etc. With the view to invoking blessings to all once, practice of Buddhist rituals and observances of offering 'Ashtaphana' - (Offering of eight different beverages) to the Load Buddha associated the event amidst the 'Sadu Naada': the devout utterances of devotees, was renting the air at temple premises of AWC.

Showing the pious and disciplinary conduct of the troops towards the Buddhist observances and practice, a charm perahera formed at the main entrance of the AWC accompanied Ven. Balangoda Radha Thero to the temple premises that commenced the proceedings of the day's programme. All necessary arrangements to this effect were made by AWC troops on Sunday, without disturbing its training schedules. Towards the end of the provoking session, the Commandant specially thanked everyone those bore the like-minded response to the success of Dhamma preaching program.
