DGGS ON HIS FIRST VISIT TO ARMY WAR COLLEGE DELIVERED AN INSPIRING SPEECH AT DINERS’ CLUB

The Diners' Club of the second trimester 2023 was held at the Army War College on 15 July 2023 marking it as the first official visit by the Guest Speaker; Director General General Staff (DGGS) of the Sri Lanka Army,Major General M G W WW M C B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndupsc. On his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by the Commandant Army War College Brigadier U K D D P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndcpscand was accorded with a Guard Turnout at the main entrance of the War College. The senior officer marked his visit by posing a group photo followed by planting a sapling of Governor’s Plump in front of the Main Auditorium. He further looked into the matters pertaining to the Army War College in view of enhancing the effectiveness of the college through which he stressed on uplifting the professionalism of the Army by presiding a briefing,carried out by the Chief Instructorat the HQ, AWC where Commandant, Deputy Commandant, all Wing heads and staff officers attended.

Gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest for the Diners' Club, he delivereda charismatic speech on 'Pathway to a Successful Military Career'andfor the preparation of his speech, he also conducted several field visits to collect first-hand information on the subject. Allparticipants were inspired by the speech wherethe speaker shared his expertise, knowledge and experience on the subject and highlighted the challenges faced by the Army Officers in the new millennium.

The questions and answers session fittingly facilitated the student officers to get their doubts clarified where the enthusiastic participants actively interacted with the speaker thus going through the traditions of the Diners’ Club event.About 150 participants in various capacities in the Army attended the event taken place in the evening.
