SENIOR COMMAND COURSE MADE A STUDY TOUR

The Senior Command Course 08 undergoing training at Army War College (AWC) completed their study tour to Colombo from 10 July 2023 to 12 July 2023. The study tour is an obligatory college event that basically aims to heighten the knowledge about the functions of designated institutions of Sri Lanka Army, Navy and Air Force.

The day one of the study tour commenced with the visit to Army Headquarters where the AWC delegation posed a group photograph with the Senior Appointments of the Sri Lanka Army along with the Deputy Chief of Staff representing the Commander of the Army. An official interaction headed by the Deputy Chief of Staff, was conducted by the Director General General Staff along with other Principles Staff Officers and Directors at the AHQ Conference Hall in view of furthering the knowledge of the Student Officers about the way forward strategies of the Sri Lanka Army. Further, several important educational sessions were also conducted allowing the Student Officers to be prepared for future endeavors as professional officers.

Moving to the Western Naval Command at the day two of the study tour, it made another fruitful educational session on the implications on Naval Affairs and it was a good opportunity for the Student Officers to have an overall understanding of the operation Sri Lanka Navy. Visiting the Disaster Management Centre next underscored a vivid picture on the operations done at the Centre being the hub of managing of the natural disasters and executing prompt actions on such situations. The operations and the functions of the Sri Lanka Air Force were observed during the visit to the Air Force Base, Rathmalana at the latter part of the second day and the Student Officers had an opportunity of enhancing knowledge on the operational and administrative executions of Sri Lanka Air Force.

The Commandant AWC Brig UKDDP Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc along with Chief Instructor, Directing Staff and all the Student Offices of the Senior Command Course 08 participated in the study tour.
