THE MAIDEN GRADUATION CEREMONY OF ARMY WAR COLLEGE COMMENCES

The maiden Graduation Ceremony of the newly designated Army War College (AWC) was held on 17 December 2021 at the College Auditorium.

The first session of the ceremony was held in the morning hours after the Inauguration Ceremony of Army War College and the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and the following top performers of JCC 22 and SCC 3 inclusive of foreign student officers from Bangladesh and Maldives were awarded with the certificates.

JCC 22
a. First in order of merit Major WBCD Wijepala SLAC
b. Second in order of merit Major Saif Zobaed Bangladesh Army
c. Third in order of merit Major KTDKS Jayapala SLLI

The second session of the graduation ceremony was held in the evening and it was graced by the Commandant of AWC Major General DBSN Bothota RWP RSP USP psc as the Chief Guest. The rest of the graduates were awarded with certificates by the Commandant and the Deputy Commandant.

Addressing the audience, the Commandant conveyed his warm wishes for the fresh graduates and emphasised on the importance of military professionalism and the necessity of becoming a competent and a professional military officer.

The event culminated with a glamorous get-together on 18 December 2021 and all the proceedings were conducted under strict adherence to Covid 19 precautions.
