OCDC SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED THE SECOND SEMESTER CRICKET TOURNAMENT

With the intention of developing camraderie among the student officers as well as to drive away the boredom of the academic environment, the cricket encounter comprising of the teams of three courses and the permanent staff was organised in line with the OCDC 2020-year planner and concluded successfully at OCDC playground on 8 August 2020.

The Commandant of OCDC graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and the teams from Unit Command Course 7, Junior Command Course 19, Junior Staff Course 19 and the Permanent Staff of OCDC participated in the event. Team "Avengers" of Junior Command Course captained by Captain HMARK Herath GW,emerged as the best team. The Directing Staff Team, "Buttala Worriers" led by Major RMA Ratnayake RWP RSP pscSF became the runner up.

Major RRI Rodrigo psc SLE from the Permanent Staff Team was awarded with the Best Batsman trophy of the series for scoring 116 runs in 3matches and Major KAVR Kaluarachchi RSP VIRfrom Junior Command Course became the Best Bowler in this competitive encounter. At the same time, Major RMA Rathnayake RWP RSP psc SF became the man of the series and Captain GASSB Senevirathne GR became the man of the final match.

With the victorious completion of the event, all the officers entertained themselves in a social gathering. The creative performances of student officers of JCC and JSC added extra glamour for the occasion. The function was held at the open cinema premises and finally the session culminated with a buffet lunch at the Officers' Mess.
