A special cultural programme was held at open cinema - OCDC on 8th February 2020 after the usual Poya Day sermon to refresh the minds as well as to develop cultural and historical values and attitudes of student officers. With the participation of the Commandant and all the members of the Permanent Staff of the OCDC along with the student officers, Major Nandana Senevirathna, a member of the Directing Staff conducted the session with the combination of the traditional dancing group of GW.
Major Nandana made the session colourful with his vivid explanation on the root causes of those traditional dances and the 13 member dancing team performed ‘Thelme’ dance which is performed for Dolos Deviyan (Twelve Gods), ‘Asne’ dance which is one of the main ‘ Kohomba Kankariya’ devil dances, and a low country dance called ‘Naga Raksha’(Cobra Mask). The picturesque evening was finally culminated with a drum orchestra performance.
