VISIT TO MATTALA RAJAPAKSA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AND HAMBANTOTA INTERNATIONAL PORT

With the directives and guidance of the commandant Major General Dinesh Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc of Army War College and Chief Instructor cooperated with other staff officers, the Student Officers of Senior Command Course No 10 were privileged to visit the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) and Hambanthota International Port (HIP) on 01 February 2024.

In the first destination of the visit was the MRIA, Student Officers were able to witness the mechanism of an International Airport and its operations, branches, security measures and passenger service acquiring knowledge on the significance of its operations and its contribution to national economy.

And next destination was the HIPG where Student Officers witnessed a comprehensive presentation on vision, mission, strategic significance, operations of different branches of International Port Service managed by the HIP group (Pvt) Ltd. The visit enlightened the knowledge on opportunities and new developments connected with port development project and their importance to National Economy followed by the field visits to habour operations area harbour expansion site.

It was a great opportunity to visit these places which play an important role as international significant economical hubs in Sri Lanka and was a timely requirement for the military officers who are to take over Commanding Officer appointments in the near future.

To mark the event the Commandant of AWC Major General Dinesh Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc exchanged mementoes with Chief Airport Manager, MRIA Mr Chamil Prasad and Senior General Manager HR and Administration, HIPG Mr Jeevan Premasara.
