SENIOR COMMAND COURSE 16 CONDUCTS EXERCISE ‘SECURE NEST’

Student Officers of the Senior Command Course 16, currently undergoing training at the Army War College, successfully completed a field exercise from 23 to 24 March 2026, further strengthening their operational knowledge in preparation for future command responsibilities.

The Exercise ‘Secure Nest’, conducted in Diyathalawa under the supervision of the Commandant, Army War College. The exercise was designed to provide Student Officers with practical exposure to unit-level security arrangements and contemporary security challenges.

During the two-day exercise, Student Officers carried out comprehensive security surveys of selected Regiments and Battalions, focusing on the assessment of security measures implemented to safeguard personnel, installations, equipment and classified information. The participants also evaluated camp security protocols, observed existing command and control arrangements and analysed potential vulnerabilities within unit security frameworks.

The Exercise ‘Secure Nest’ form an integral component of the Senior Command Course curriculum, which aims to develop the ability of future Commanding Officers to observe, assess and respond to potential security threats in any security environment.
