NIGERIAN DEFENCE DELEGATION VISITS TO ARMY WAR COLLEGE

The defence delegation of Nigeria headed by Major General SO Olabanji, Director of Nigerian Army Training and Doctrine Command made a visit to Army War College (AWC), Buttala on Thursday (08) as a part of their five-day familiarization tour in Sri Lanka. Brigadier UKDDP Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, the Commandant, Army War College warmly welcomed the visiting Delegation at the Headquarters premises of AWC.

During the cordial meeting, they promised to strengthen the ties between two militaries and more cooperation in future. The delegation of Nigerian Army were also acquainted with an awareness of places at their interest giving more prominence to the training activities conducted under the Defence Studies Branch. The delegation enthusiastically witnessed a demonstration of ground orientation displayed at the Open Air Wing premises followed by visiting the exercise area where the student officers of Junior Staff Course (JSC) had been attending the EX PATHFINDER as per the weekly training program. The delegation also observed another programmed training session of Junior Command Course (JCC), being taken place at their syndicate room. The delegation subsequently visited the Main Auditorium and the foreign officers’ accommodation area of the AWC as well as the lecture halls complex of the DSB building.

Towards the end of their day’s itinerary, the visiting delegation had an interactive session with the Commandant, Deputy Commandant, Chief Instructor, Senior Instructors and other members of the Directing Staff and were subsequently, invited for the lunch hosted by the Commandant Army War College.

The Commandant presented a memento to the visiting defence delegation of Nigerian Army to mark their visit to the AWC and the gesture reciprocated. Before they leave the AWC, the head of the delegation inscribed few thoughts in the Visitor’s Book.
