The Seminar 1/2017 for senior military officers of tri-services organized by the Officer Career Development Centre (OCDC) under the guidance of the Commander of the Army was successfully conducted from 24 to 25 May 2017 at the Main Auditorium of the centre. Sixty (60) senior officers from the tri services, in the rank of colonel and brigadier or equivalent participated at the seminar.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Maj Gen N U M M W Senanayake RWP RSP USP psc, the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army.
The seminar 1/2017 was designed with the guidance of the Commander of the Army on the theme of “Changing Security Landscape: Role of Sri Lankan Forces.
By following the traditional customs and rituals, the seminar was inaugurated with the lightning the traditional oil lamp followed by a warm welcome by the Commandant, Officer Career Development Centre Brig D M D C D Gunawardana RWP USP ndc psc. The Chief of Staff delivered the Keynote Address laying a powerful platform to unfold the seminar.
The first day of the seminar was consisted with two sessions that were chaired by Maj Gen R A Nugera WWV RWP RSP USP ndu and Prof Imitiaz Ahamed. The final day was comprised with three sessions. The first session of the day was chaired by Maj Gen B H M A Wijesinghe, while the second and the final session was chaired by Prof Shantha K Hennayake and Maj Gen K P A Jayasekara WWV RSP USP ndc psc respectively.
All the sessions were followed by an interactive question and answer sessions allowing the participants to express and share their impressions.
The two day seminar was successfully concluded with the Closing Remarks by the Chief Instructor, Officer Career Development Centre, Col W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc followed by refreshments.
