ARMY WAR COLLEGE MARKS FIRST WORKING DAY OF THE NEW YEAR 2024

Army War College (AWC), Buttala marked the dawn of the New Year and the first working day on 01 January 2024 during a formal ceremony giving priority to Reading the Public Service Oath, flag hoisting, recital of the national anthem and the Army song.

The day’s formalities, presided by Major General UKDDP Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc the Commandant of Army War College.

The proceedings began with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Commandant and the AWC flag by Chief Instructor of Army War College.

It followed the recital of the National Anthem and the Army Song. The ceremony afterwards commemorated the memory of fallen War Heroes by observing a two-minute silence before the Public Service Oath was read out.

Afterwards, the troops listened to the Commandant’s Address and received his wishes for the dawn of the New Year.

The Commandant addressing the troops emphasized on the importance of preserving the dignity and reputation of the Sri Lanka Army while performing responsibilities to the best of their ability in order to safeguard the interests of the motherland. The Senior Officer also highlighted the commitment of everyone to reach desired objectives of the country by providing a very reliable service during assignments.
