The Army War College (AWC) began the third trimester with the commencement of Senior Command Course 9 and Junior Command Course 28 on 28 August 2023.
Brigadier UKDDP Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, the Commandant of AWC delivered the Opening Address and marked the commencement of the third trimester of the AWC academic programme. During the opening address, the Commandant highlighted the importance of following the career development courses and encouraged all student officers to effectively follow the particular courses that are essential for enhancing the military professionalism and career development.
Having further emphasized on the significance of both courses, the Commandant insisted that the Senior Command Course has specifically been designed to develop the knowledge and skills on command, staff, and war fighting concepts in order to become successful Commanding Officers whilst the Junior Command Course instigate the necessary directions to groom middle grade officers of the Army to become competent staff officers at respective levels.
The Senior Command Course 9 comprised 30 student officers and the Junior Command course comprised 64 student officers. Chief Instructor, Senior Instructors, all faculty members and permanent staff of the Army War College attended the event.
