The ‘Critical Engagement, the climax of the joint multi-pronged tri-service Field Training Exercise (FTX) of the Army, ‘Cormorant Strike XI – 2021’ which executed its final amphibious mock attack capturing the simulated hostile bases in Kumpurupiddi, off Trincomalee this afternoon (29) with participants from foreign militaries, was witnessed by General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, along with High Commissioners of Bangladesh and the Maldives, Defence Attaches and a host of tri service Senior Officers, including Commanders of the Navy and Air Force.

The mock ‘Exercise Cormorant Strike-XI 2021’, now in full swing entering its final phases effectively infiltrated one more main base of the ad hoc terrorist organization, East Asian Liberation Fighters (ELF) at Narakamulla and completely destroyed it with Airmobile Brigade troops on Wednesday (22).

Tuesday (07) morning saw one more phase of the mock operation in the ongoing Field Training Exercise (FTX) 'Cormorant Strike -XI' where training troops liberated the Moragahakanda Dam under the East Asian Liberation Fighters' (ELF's) siege in a striking assault recapturing it after a fierce exchange of long range fire between Commando Brigade troops and those ELF terrorists.

The eleventh joint Tri-service Mega Field Training Exercise (FTX) ‘Exercise - Cormorant Strike XI - 2021’, one of the notable annual projects, organized by the Army with the participation of foreign military representatives set out this morning (3) at Minneriya Operational Headquarters at Infantry Training Center, Minneriya after a briefing delivered by the Exercise Director, Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, together with the Deputy Ex-Director Major General Anil Samarasiri, General Officer Commanding, 65 Division and other stakeholders.
