A DROP OF BLOOD FOR HUMANITY

A special blood donation campaign was organized by the Security Forces Headquarters (Central), with the participation of the Sri Lanka Army personnel, whose members continuously dedicate themselves as guardians of the nation. In response to a request made by the National Blood Transfusion service of the Teaching Hospital Badulla to maintain adequate blood reserves, this humanitarian initiative was conducted under the guidance and direction of the Commander of the Security Forces Headquarters (Central).

Accordingly, the program was held on 22 April 2026 at the premises of the Diyatalawa Army Base Hospital. The primary objective of this initiative was to support the uninterrupted supply of blood required for surgeries, emergency treatments, and other clinical needs within the hospital system. A total of 111 male and female Army personnel voluntarily and enthusiastically participated in this noble effort. Their contribution is expected to be of immense value in saving the lives of numerous patients in the Badulla District and surrounding areas.

A single drop of blood donated by an individual can offer another person a precious chance at life. The willingness of soldiers, who are ever ready to sacrifice their lives for the nation, to also step forward to donate their blood for the well-being of the people is truly commendable. This act further reflects the discipline and dedication inherent in Army culture, while also strengthening the mutual relationship between the military and the civilian community.
