SECURITY FORCES HEADQUARTERS (CENTRAL) CELEBRATES PROUD 13TH ANNIVERSARY

The Security Forces Headquarters (Central), which plays a significant role in ensuring security and the well-being of civilians in the Central Province, proudly celebrated its 13th anniversary on 14 March

The commemorative event was held in a dignified manner under the leadership of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General K.A.W.N.H. Bandaranayake USP, with the participation of all officers and other rankers

In line with the anniversary celebrations, several religious observances and community service programmes were conducted. Among them was an almsgiving ceremony offered to the Buddhist monks of Kadurugoda Rajamaha Viharaya. In addition, clothing, bed sheets, and fresh fruits were donated to 70 patients receiving treatment at the Cancer Ward of the Badulla General Hospital. These donations were made through the personal financial contributions of officers and other rankers serving under the Security Forces Headquarters (Central).

With the aim of strengthening cooperation and camaraderie among Army personnel serving under the Security Forces Headquarters (Central), friendly volleyball and cricket tournaments were organized. During the event, the traditional guard turnout and a guard of honour were accorded to the Commander at the headquarters premises. A tree planting ceremony was also held to mark the occasion, followed by a group photograph.

Addressing the troops, the Commander appreciated the dedicated service rendered by soldiers within the area of responsibility of the Security Forces Headquarters (Central) throughout its proud 13-year history, particularly during national emergencies, disaster situations, and in safeguarding national security. He also commended the commitment and contributions of all past and present officers, other rankers, and civilian staff, who worked in harmony with the civilian community to achieve these successes.

The 13th anniversary celebrations concluded with a lunch reception attended by all ranks, marking the successful completion of the commemorative programme.
