Immediate action has been initiated by the GOC 12 Infantry Division after calling a conference with main stake holders of Katharagama festival to privent further reporting of such kind of unfortunate incidents.
Crocodile attack on a pilgrim in to the Manik river was occurad on 06 July 2024 and succumbed due to injuries. As a precautionary measure, a 83 feet long mesh net been layed across the river with the support of Navy, Police and Wild life, under the close supervision and guidance of GOC 12 Infantry Division.
Further, combined security point been positioned no one to violate the safety instructions and trespass.
