Poson Maha Perahera and Poson Festival of the Tissamaharama Temple was held very colorful and glamorous manner in this year at 124th time. The Commander of the Army directed GOC 12 Infantry Division to provide any assistance required within the parameters and capacity. Series of events that started from 15 June 2024 to 22 June 2024 were assisted by the troops of 12 Infantry Division, such as color washing of ‘Sthupa’, cleaning Temple premises prior to the events and after, assisting to prepare meals at ‘Dansala’ and 18 men to hold ‘Muthukuda’ for weeklong ‘Pirith’ chanted Monks, 24 men for hold ‘Sesath’ in the perahara and Army ‘Ves’ Dancing team performed in the final day of Perahara.
GOC 12 Infantry Division was invited by the Chief Incumbent and ‘Dayaka Sabawa’ of the Temple to attend for ‘Randoli Perahara’ event and place ‘Golden Casket’ with the ‘Relics’ in the ‘Ransivige’ on main Tusker.
During the oration, Chief Incumbent of Tissamaharama Rajamaha Viharaya, the Most Ven. Dr. Devalegama Dhammasena Nayka Thero mentioned that comparatively, Army’s contribution for the Poson Festival is higher in this year and paid special thank to the Commander of the Army for all the assistance provided.
