It was reported that a bus travelling from Kataragama to Kurunegala had veered off the road and plunged approximately 40 feet into a precipice in the Ramboda area, the accident was reported at approximately 0615 hours On 11th may 2025. which in 642 Brigade Headquarters area, under the 11 Division Headquarters.
Furthermore, 03 x 16 troops from the 3 (V) SLSR were immediately deployed and swiftly reached the accident site. Following a strenuous and coordinated rescue effort lasting nearly 7 hours, the troops, with the assistance of local civilians, managed to rescue all survivors from the wreckage.
Tragically, 21 individuals were found deceased upon the arrival of rescue teams. However, 44 others were rescued and have been safely evacuated to nearby hospitals for treatment. All necessary assistance and coordination were provided by the deployed troops during the operation
