On 29 November 2025, Major General KAWNH Bandaranayake USP, Commander Security Forces (Central), conducted a field visit to the Nuwara Eliya District, which falls under the Area of Responsibility of Security Forces Headquarters (Central). The visit focused on assessing the prevailing disaster situation in the district and reviewing the necessary future courses of action to be implemented.
During the visit, a disaster management discussion was held at the Nuwara Eliya District Secretariat with the District Secretary and relevant administrative officials. The Commander Security Forces (Central) and the Commander, 642 Infantry Brigade, participated in this discussion. Following the review of the situation, arrangements were made to commence the required Army-led recovery and restoration operations in the affected areas.
Furthermore, the Commander inspected several severely affected locations, including the Keppetipola town area, Nuwara Eliya town and the Ohiya.
