Major General KAWNH Bandaranayake USP, assumed office as the 23rd Commander Security Forces (Central) on 17 February 2025 amids formal military traditions rituals. Following the military tradition, the troops of 23 VIR accorded Guard turnout and guard of honour, in honour of newly appointed Commander Security Forces (Central). Thereafter he planted a sapling to mark the occasion and attended in a group photograph.
Afterwards, Major General KAWNH Bandaranayake USP, auspiciously took over duties amidst the religious observance and places his signature in an official document to symbolizing the formal acceptance of his new office.
In line with the program, newly appointed Commander Security Forces (Central) addressed the troops and exposed his aim and objectives. There he empathized the importance of maintaining discipline and good conduct in all levels. Towards end of the briefing, he attended for a formal All Rank Tea at the NCO’s Club.
Comprehensive briefing on role and task of the Security Forces (Central) was taken place at conference hall with the participation of Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Admin and Quartering, all Staff Officer who were performing duties at the Security Forces Headquarters (Central) and under command units.
Finally, the commander given his remarks and invited all officers to be a active member of his team, at last, paying his sincere gratitude for all past and existing all Officers and soldiers.
