COMMANDER OF THE ARMY MADE HIS FIRST OFFICIAL VISIT TO SECURITY FORCES (CENTRAL)

With the objective of meeting the troops, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, the Commander of the Army on Saturday (15) made his first formal visit to the Security Forces - Central at Diyatalawa

On 15 March 2025, the Commander of the Army attended the ceremony of laying the foundation stone for “Poonagala new housing project”, which initiated by the government for the victims of “Meeriyabadda land slide”. The construction works of the project have been undertaken by the Sri Lanka Army Engineer Service Regiment under the direct supervision and the instruction of the Commander of the Army. The Adjutant General, the Commander Security Forces- Central, the Director Engineer Services, Several Ministers and Hon. Members of Parliament were also present for the event. On the same day at 1130 hrs, the Commander addressed all officers under command to Security Forces central, at “Sino Lanka Friendship Auditorium at the Sri Lanka Military Academy”. During the address the Commander highlighted the core values of the Army, while giving emphasis to military discipline, leadership, the importance of looking after the welfare of soldiers as the basis and the fundamental responsibility of officers at every level.

After the officers Address, the Commander attended for the “All Ranks Lunch” and he addressed all troops at “Sino Lanka Friendship Auditorium at the Sri Lanka Military Academy” at 1530 hrs. While concluding the first day visit the Commander of the Army, attended for an interaction session with the officers at the officers’ mess at Security Forces Central at 1900 hrs upon receiving a cordial invitation extended by the Commander Security Forces Central, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP.

The second day of the visit started marking the first official arrival of the Commander of the Army to the Security Forces Headquarters (Central) at 1000 hrs on 16 March, accorded with a Drive Pass. Then, he was warmly welcomed by the Commander Security Forces and officially marked his visit by planting a sapling at the entrance of the Headquarters. Then he attended for the briefing and concluded his visit after appearing for a group photograph with All Ranks. General Officer Commanding of 11 and 12 Infantry Divisions, Logistic Commander- Central, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks attended the occasion.
