CENTRAL TROOPS BID FAREWELL TO OUTGOING SECURITY FORCE COMMANDER

Subsequently the military farewell parade, the outgoing Senior Officer posed for a group photograph with his formation commanders and staff officers. The long felt lecture hall for the headquarters was declared open by the Security Force Commander, which was constructed on his directives and guidance, at the site of the headquarters. The remarkable event led to another felicitation for the troops where 18 Other Ranks received certificates from the outgoing Security Force Commander for successfully completing the ‘Refresher Training Program on VIP Protection’. After the awarding ceremony, the senior officer delivered the troops address at the new lecture hall, and interacted with all officers and other ranks at the tea party. At the end of ceremony, the Formation Commanders, Senior Staff Officers, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks offered compliments to the departing Commander Security Force (Central) along the street leads to the main entrance.

Major General WWHRRVMNDKB Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, who took over duties as Commander Security Force (Central) on 28 June 2023, completed a benevolent tenure for 6 months. During his illustrious span as the Commander, he initiated many training, welfare and interactive programs and projects for the benefit of all troops under Security Force (Central). As well as a resourceful commander, he was a good listener and efficient communicator that made his troops to work in a comfortable environment with enthusiasm. Being a dynamic scholar in the field of disaster management, he was able to respond and manage the natural calamities erupted in the area of responsibility by deploying troops effectively. He won many hearts of the government officials and civil community for his dedicated initiatives made on behalf the civil communities, especially during the disasters.

The senior officer will reach the 35th milestone of his exceptional military career in year 2024. He is due to take over his new appointment, Adjutant General of Sri Lanka Army, at Army Headquarters.
