BRIGADIER PI PUNCHIHEWA ASSUMES DUTIES AS THE 15TH COMMANDER OF THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY BRIGADE

Brigadier PI Punchihewa officially assumed duties as the 15th Commander of the Mechanized Infantry Brigade on 11 July 2025, with a traditional military ceremony held at the Headquarters Mechanized Infantry Brigade.

Upon his arrival, the Brigade staff warmly received the senior officer with a Guard Turnout, to paid the honour.

Following religious observances, he officially assumed responsibilities by signing the formal documents, signifying his acceptance of duties as the Commander Mechanized Infantry Brigade.

As part of the ceremonial proceedings, Brigadier PI Punchihewa planted a sapling to mark the significance of his appointment, symbolizing growth, commitment, and continuity.

The event was attended by GSO I mechanized Infantry Brigade and the staff officers and Brigade staff,of the Mechanized infantry Brigade, who extended their best wishes to the newly appointed Commander, Mechanized Infantry Brigade.
