FIRST OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT TO THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY BRIGADE AND 1ST MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT

Debut visit of the newly appointed 17th Colonel of the Regiment of Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Major General W M S C K Wanasinghe RSP USP, General Officer Commanding 21 Infantry Division, marked the first official visit to the, Mechanized Infantry Brigade and 1st Mechanized Infantry Regiment on 14 October 2024 after taking over duties. Giving priority for traditions and customs, a formal Guard Turnout was offered and Commander Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Brigadier H A A N C Prabhath RSP USP and Commanding Officer of 1st Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel P R Atapattu USP warmly welcomed him at the arrival.

As the newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment, he addressed the troops of Mechanized Infantry Brigade and 1st Mechanized Infantry Regiment stating the significant of Mechanized Soldier and and further emphasised the challenges are to be overcome in contemporary environment. Subsequently, the camp visit in both the headquarters were made and inquired both operational and administrative matters faced by the troops. The visit was marked with memories by planting a sapling at the both Headquarters. The Centre Commandant of Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre along with other Staff Officers of Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre were accompanied with the Colonel of the Regiment during the visit.
