09 Young Officers successtitlly completed Mech Inf YO Course No 11

Final certificate awarding ceremony for 09 Officers who successfully qualified in Mechanized Infantry Young Officers Course after five and half month of stressful residual training course conducted at the Mechanized Infantry Training Centre (MITC) Periyakaddu terminated on Saturday (07) with a colourful closing ceremony.

Brigadier BPGK Balasooriya RSP psc, Commander, Mechanized Infantry Brigade adding significance to the achievements graced the awarding ceremony as the Chief Guest.Colonel IdAANC Prabhath RSP USP, Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Training Centre welcomed the day’s Chief Guest, Commander, Mechanized Infantry Brigade Brigadier Kavinda Balasooriya on his arrival at the premises.

The Mechanized Infantry Young Officers’ Course is comprised with comprehensive packages on Gunnery, Communication, Automobile aspects related to the Infantry Combat Vehicles (ICVs) by Mechanized Infantry Regiment and tactics used by Mechanized Infantry when it comes to ground actions. It is five and half months stressful and strain residual course which inculcate the knowledge on the stipulated subjects and develop and sharpen the capacities and skills of the Young Officers in the Mechanized Infantry.

During the ceremony, Brigadier Kavinda Balasooriya, Commander, Mechanized Infantry Brigade, addressed the audience and emphasised the importance of the course as to develop a potential young officers and as a future leaders in the Mechanized Infantry Regiment who can sustaining in any operational environment. Among the 09 student officers of the Mechanized Infantry Young Officers’ Course, Captain TANSB Thibbutumunuwa of 4 Mechanized Infantry Regiment was awarded with the first in order of merit.

Chief Instructor of MITC, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks instructed were also presented at the ceremony.

Friday Day (06) at 1000 hrs, prior to the certificates awarding ceremony, presentation of the final research of the Student Officers’ who got qualified in the Mechanized Infantry Young Officers’ Course, took place followed by a Colourful gala, headed by the event Chief Guest Brigadier Kavinda Balasooriya, Commander, Mechanized Infantry Brigade.
