Gunner family bids farewell to Major General MKUP Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG on April 19, 2024. The farewell ceremony is held at the Artillery Regimental Centre in Panagoda, in accordance with the customs and rich traditions of the Gunners.
The ceremony began with laying a flower wreath at the Regimental Monument to pay tribute to the fallen war heroes. The Troops of the Regiment accorded a Guard turnout and a Farewell Parade to Major General MKUP Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG. The Warrant Officers' and Sergeants' Mess organized a grand tea ceremony to honour the General who is retiring.
The day’s events were concluded with a Guest Night hosted by the Officers of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery at the Officers’ Mess Panagoda. The Commandant of Defence Services Command and Staff College and the Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery Major General B K G M L Rodrigo RSP psc IG, Senior Officers, Officers and their ladies were present.
