The 7 Light Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery marked its 36th Anniversary through a sequence of events, following its establishment on 10 November 1988. The festivities kicked off with a Sharamadhana campaign to collect non bio degradable waste materials left at the Minneriya tank bund area and either side of the A11 Habarana - Batticaloa main road from Rotawewa junction to camp premises which was held on 31 October 2024. Then an Inter Battery Cricket Tournament was organized to strengthen the comradeship among the light gunners, with the aim of fostering team spirit, cooperation, togetherness and boosting moral on 07 November 2024. Thereafter, the Flag Blessing at Minnneriya Dewalaya and a Bodhi Pooja at the camp premises were held to invoke the blessing for the Regiment on 08 November 2024 as religious observances.
On 10 November 2024, Offrs and ORs of the Regiment accorded a Guard of honour and an impressive Parade to the Commanding Officer. The celebration was enhanced by the symbolic act of planting an orange sapling, a group photo and All Rank lunch to commemorate the anniversary. The series of programs concluded with a get-together featuring the unit’s rhythmic band on 11 November 2024.
