The Senior Command Course 15 undergoing training at the Army War College Buttala, successfully concluded the Exercise 'Eagle Strike', a comprehensive Counterinsurgency (COIN) exercise, conducted from 14 to 22 November 2025. The exercise aimed to train Student Officers in planning and executing brigade-level COIN operations, with a focus on pacification operations and military aid to civil authority.
The exercise was conducted in six phases, covered mission analysis, brigade and battalion deployment planning, and the attack on an insurgent hideout, the Command Post Exercise (CPX), and Integrated Contingency Plans (ICP). Furthermore, Student Officers also received training on media handling in complex operational environments gaining the exposure, ensuring a balanced understanding of COIN operations. A realistic media scenario was created with the assistance of the Directorate of Media, featuring real journalists and simulating with the media in a lifelike setting.
The exercise was also enriched by the participation of a three-member delegation from the Army War College Mhow India, led by a Brigadier Shashi Bushan Ghildiyal, as a part of the Instructor Exchange Programme. Their valuable insights and experiences added significant value to the exercise, fostering professional dialogue and knowledge sharing.
The successful conclusion of Exercise 'Eagle Strike' marks a significant milestone in the Senior Command Course curriculum, reinforcing the commitment of the Army War College to foster excellence in military education and training.
