ARMY WAR COLLEGE HOSTS ASSISTANT DEFENCE ADVISOR OF HIGH COMMISSION OF INDIA IN SRI LANKA FOR INDO-LANKA FRIENDSHIP SPORTS COMPLEX PROJECT

The Army War College, Buttala, Sri Lanka, recently played host to a significant visit from Lt Col Mandeep Singh Negi, Assistant Defence Advisor of the Indian High Commission in Colombo. The visit underscored the strong bilateral defence cooperation between India and Sri Lanka, particularly in relation to the upcoming Indo-Lanka Friendship Sports Complex project.

During the visit, Maj Gen Subath Sanjeewa RSP nps psc, Commandant of the Army War College welcomed Lt Col Mandeep Singh Negi along with the military delegation that included Brigadier Y K S Rangika psc ptsc the Director Engineer Services of the Sri Lanka Army highlighting the importance of this landmark project. The sports complex, a part of the Strategic Infrastructure Development Assistance Programme of the Government of India, aims to promote physical fitness, sportsmanship, and well-being among officers and other ranks at the Army War College.

The project is expected to serve as a symbol of the strong bond between the two nations, promoting mutual understanding and cooperation. The Commandant expressed his gratitude to the Government of India for their generous support and commitment to the project. The significant visit was marked by an exchange of mementos symbolising mutual respect.

The Assistant Defence Advisor was briefed on the project’s progress and current status, with a detailed presentation conducted by the Brig Priyankara Perera psc, the Deputy Commandant, highlighting the key aspects of the initiative. The visit marked a significant milestone in the project’s implementation, with both sides looking forward to its successful completion.

The Army War College looks forward to continuing its collaborative efforts with the Indian High Commission in Colombo to bring this project to fruition. The Indo-Lanka Friendship Sports Complex is poised to become a beacon of bilateral cooperation between India and Sri Lanka soon, fostering a culture of sports, fitness, and well-being within the Army War College.
