13th COMMANDANT OF ARMY WAR COLLEGE ASSUMES DUTIES

Major General P S Subath Sanjeewa RSP nps psc assumed duties as the 13th Commandant of the Army War College (AWC), Buttala on 23 June 2025 during a brief ceremony.

The new Commandant was accorded with a Guard Turnout on his arrival at the main gate and was warmly received by the Deputy Commandant along with other Senior Officers. Subsequently, after administering the religious observations, the formalities of assuming duties with signing of the documents at auspicious time marked the acceptance of new office.

Soon after assuming duties, the Commandant posed for a photograph with staff of the AWC and planted a sapling of White Sandalwood (Tantalum album) in the college premises to mark the occasion. Subsequently, he addressed all Officers and Other Ranks at the Main Auditorium where he emphasized the importance of everybody’s contribution and support in accomplishing the objectives, vision and mission of the AWC.

The brief ceremony was culminated with All Ranks’ Tea arranged to celebrate the occasion as a gesture of welcoming the new Commandant.
