Student Officers from the Senior Command Course 15 (SCC 15), comprising 51 Senior Student Officers, Junior Command Course 34 (JCC 34), comprising 70 Student Officers, and Junior Staff Course 30 (JSC 30), comprising 30 Student Officers, currently undergoing training at the Army War College (AWC) Buttala, embarked on an educational study visit to the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA), Diyatalawa on 19 October 2025. The visit was organised as part of the course curriculum to enhance and refresh knowledge related to key military drills and procedures of the Sri Lanka Army.
Upon arrival, the visiting delegation was warmly welcomed by the Chief Instructor of SLMA, Colonel PADSW Ponnamperuma USP psc, at the main entrance. The Student Officers received an introduction to ceremonial drills, followed by Demonstrations on Street Line, Guard Turnout, Guard of Honour, Guard Mounting and Dismounting, and Staff Parade. A Funeral Drill Demonstration was conducted at Fox Hill, marking the conclusion of the visit.
During the study tour, the Student Officers also visited the Officer Cadets' Mess. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for the Student Officers to witness and gain knowledge on key military drills. The visiting delegation was accompanied by Colonel DPASA Witharana psc, the Chief Instructor, Senior Instructors, Directing Staff, and Administrative Staff of Army War College.
