SENIOR COMMAND COURSE 15 CONCLUDED THE EXERCISE SECURE NEST WITH COMPREHENSIVE MILITARY EXPOSURE

The Student Officers of Senior Command Course 15 concluded the Exercise ‘Secure Nest’, which encompassed a series of enriching activities, marking a milestone in their professional development career as emerging military leaders of Sri Lanka. The exercise was conducted from 26 to 27 November 2025, to provide Student Officers with a ground-level appreciation of security responsibilities related to men, equipment, operation, and information at battalion level at 3 SLAC, 4 SLSC, 2 ESR, 5 SLEME, and 3 SLCMP.

Under the sage guidance and participative supervision of Chief Instructor and Senior Instructor of Senior Command Course Wing together with Directing Staff, the Student Officers practiced real time decision-making, risk assessment, and application of command responsibility as all essential competencies expected from future battalion commanders.

A notable feature of the event was the active participation of Senior Officers from each battalion who provided on-site guidance, professional insights, and command-level perspectives relevant to their respective unit roles. Their engagement enhanced the learning value of the exercise, particularly during presentations delivered by the Student Officers at each location.

Those Senior Officers expressed high appreciation for the professionalism, analytical depth, and clarity demonstrated by the Student Officers during their assessments, commending their confidence, situational understanding, and ability to apply doctrinal concepts to practical scenarios. Their positive feedback served as a strong motivation for the participants and confirmed the relevance and success of the exercise.

The Exercise ‘Secure Nest’ terminated with the awarding of exercise gradings to each team, assessed on their analytical capability, presentation proficiency, and overall interpretation of the exercise objectives.

However, the exercise ‘Staff Ride, designed to bridge theoretical knowledge with ground realities based on the 2009 recapture of Elephant Pass, could not be conducted due to prevailing adverse weather conditions though it had been scheduled to be carried out immediately after Exercise ‘Secure Nest’.
