RO PLANT COMMISSIONED TO PROVIDE PURIFIED WATER TO TROOPS AT AWC

To provide drinking water for troops in the Army War College (AWC) a new Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant was installed at the premises and It was vested in troops on 12 December 2024 during a simple ceremony.

The need for a Reverse Osmosis plant remained a long-felt requirement in the AWC since it would help prevent Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD) for troops serving due to drinking water. Specially, the water purification plant was an essential requirement for the AWC since more than 150 officers those who are semester wise regularly participate for their career development courses throughout the year.

The new RO plant has a capacity to provide 5000 liters per day.

Further, on the request of AWC, Reverse Osmosis plant was facilitated by the Directorate of Engineering Services and it was installed in the Camp premises by the Garrison Engineer Office, Buttala 17 Engineering Service Regiment with their technical and labour power assistance. Engineerins Services Regiment ’s initiative underscores their commitment to community development and sustainability. By addressing a long-standing need, they have made a meaningful impact on the Army War College, Sri Lanka. The RO plant is now operational, promising years of clean and safe water for all its users.
