JUNIOR COMMAND COURSE TRIUMPHS VICTORY OF ARMY WAR COLLEGE CRICKET TOURNAMENT

The Army War College Cricket Tournament conducted during the first trimester of the year 2025, was a thrilling event that showcased the talents and sportsmanship, camaraderie and event planning skills where a series of 14 matches were played among 15 teams and concluded on 16th February 2025 at the college playground. The matches were scheduled in evenings allowing both players and spectators to actively participate without disturbing the training schedules.

Fifteen teams representing all three courses: three teams from Senior Command Course 13 (SCC 13), six teams from Junior Command Course 32 (JCC 32), and three teams from Junior Staff Course 28 (JSC 28), took part in the tournament.

The Commandant of AWC, Major General TCMGST Cooray RWP RSP USP ndc psc, graced the occasion of final encounter as the Chief Guest together with the participation of Deputy Commandant, Chief Instructor, faculty members and administrative staff.

JCC Syndicate 6 and JCC Syndicate 2 made it to the final encounter after playing two highly competitive semifinals. Major KMVS Kahandugoda SLAGSC made an important contribution for JCC Syndicate 6 as the captain scored 78 runs but the excited run-chase accomplished by JCC Syndicate 2 guided for the triumphing victory. After a thrilling competition, Syndicate-2 of JCC became the Champion of the tournament and Syndicate-6 of JCC secured Runners-up. Major KMVS Kahadugoda SLAGSC (JCC) emerged as the Best Batsman while Major GGS Madushanka CR (JCC) became the Best Bowler. However, Major RAHC Roopasinghe SLA (JCC) became the Man of the Series.
