Major General P S Subath Sanjeewa RSP nps psc, the 7th Commandant of the Army War College, formally relinquished his duties on 02 January 2026, marking the conclusion of a distinguished tenure marked by significant academic and infrastructural advancements.

The Outgoing Commandant was accorded a customary Guard Turnout in honour and appreciation of his exemplary service to the Army War College. Prior to relinquishing command, Major General Subath Sanjeewa addressed the troops, expressing his sincere appreciation for the commitment and dedication of the Faculty and Permanent Staff in ensuring the smooth functioning of the College as a premier military training establishment. He later joined the All Ranks’ Tea, engaging in cordial interaction with officers and other ranks before his departure.

Subsequently, at a Street Line, All Ranks extended their congratulations and best wishes to the Outgoing Commandant.

Coinciding with the day’s proceedings, the Army War College organised a series of ceremonial and institutional events to mark the Commandant’s relinquishment of office. As part of ongoing efforts to enhance training enrichment, the Outgoing Commandant declared open the newly established office complex of the Training Coordinating Wing.

In another milestone reflecting the College’s forward march towards digitalised professionalism, Directing Staff were issued tablet devices during a brief ceremony. The project was realised through the foresighted guidance and facilitation of the Commander of the Army, whose support was specially acknowledged by the Outgoing Commandant during his address.

Further marking the day’s significance, the Army War College launched Wisdom Magazine, its Annual Journal, at the College Headquarters. The publication highlights key academic activities of 2025, and a copy was presented to the Outgoing Commandant by the Chief Instructor and the Senior Instructor of the Junior Staff Wing, bringing the programme to a fitting conclusion.
