Student Officers following the courses in the first trimester of the Army War College (AWC) visited Kataragama on 8 February 2025 during the Exercise God King organised as an event in the course curriculum.
As a motive of enhancing organising skills and event management capabilities of the Student Officers and also to have a mental relaxation, AWC organises these extracurricular activities to get the exposure in different capacities. Altogether, 147 Student Officers belong to Senior Command Course (SCC 13), Junior Command Course (JCC 32) and Junior Staff Course (JSC 28) took part in the visit.
Continuing with the long-standing practice of the AWC, Student Officers of each trimester organise the event to bring the mental relaxation by breaking the monotony through which they develop the insight of religious significance of the place, and identify the historical background about one of the most famous local and foreign tourist destinations.
The Student Officers of all three courses that are conducted during the first trimester including the faculty members and the permanent staff together with Deputy Commandant, Senior Instructors and Directing Staff worshipped sacred ‘Kiriwehera’ and visited the ancient ‘Kataragama Devalaya’.
