ARMY WAR COLLEGE HOLDS THE GRADUATION CEREMONY 2/2024

The Graduation Ceremony of Army War College (AWC) Buttala, for the second trimester 2024, was held on 12 August 2024 at the AWC Auditorium. A total of 115 Officers comprising 34 Student Officers from Senior Command Course No. 11 together with 55 Student Officers from Junior Command Course No. 30 and 26 Student Officers from Junior Staff Course 26 on successful completion of respective courses, received the graduation from Major General H H K S S Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc, the Commandant AWC who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest

The Student Officers who have shown exceptional academic excellence and secured the first, second and third places in order of merit in each course received the awards and certificates from the Chief Guest

Specially, during the graduation ceremony, Major C Chilyabanyama of Zambian Army and Captain Jeremy Tucker from the Australian Army, followed Junior Command Course 30 representing friendly foreign nations, were also awarded with plaques as tokens of appreciation for being representatives of their nations and sharing their cultural and moral values with their counterparts of Sri Lanka Army

Following Student Officers from SCC, JCC and JSC, who secured the first, second and third orders of merit, received their certificates from the Commandant, Army War College

The Deputy Commandant, Brigadier M W A R C Wijesuriya RSP USP ndc and the Chief Instructor (Overlooking), Col T H M D R M Peiris RSP psc gave away the certificates to the other Student Officers graduated during the ceremony. Towards the end of the Graduation Ceremony, the Commandant conveyed his warm wishes to all newly graduated officers while delivering the ‘Graduation Speech’ and inspired them to take over future challenges in the service. Further, he also urged them to continue learning and further elevate their standards as professional Officers of this constantly developing Army. All faculty members and Permanent Staff members attended the elegant function that is customarily held thrice a year
