The Graduation Ceremony of Army War College (AWC) Buttala, for the first trimester of 2025, was held on the 30th of April 2025 at the AWC Auditorium. A total number of 147 officers upon successful completion of respective courses, namely as Senior Command Course No. 13 (SCC13), Junior Command Course No. 32 (JCC32) and Junior Staff Course No. 28 (JSC28) graduated during the ceremony while the Commandant of AWC, Major General TCMGST Cooray RWP RSP USP ndc psc, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The SCC 13 was comprised of 39 Student Officers from various regiments of Sri Lanka Army, and the Junior Command Course No. 32 (JCC 32) was comprised of 74 Student Officers, including 4 foreign officers representing Bangladesh, India and Zambia, along with 01 officer from Sri Lanka Navy and 01 officer from Sir Lanka Air Force, whilst JSC 28 was comprised of 32 student officers including 01 officer from Sri Lanka Navy and 01 officer from Sri Lanka Air Force. During the graduation ceremony, Captain Misbahul Islam Fuad from the Bangladesh Army, Major Abhishek Kundilia and Major Ashutosh Yadav from the Indian Army and Captain Joshua Ngʼomao from the Zambian Army who followed the Junior Command Course 32 representing friendly foreign nations, were also awarded plaques as tokens of appreciation for representing their nations and sharing their cultural and moral values with their counterparts of the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force. Having recognized the importance of inter- services collaboration, two Officers from Sri Lanka Navy and two Officers from Sri Lanka Air Force were also awarded with special plaques at the successful completion of the respective courses. Student Officers from JCC and JSC, who secured the first, second and third orders of merit were awarded certificates by the Commandant, Army War College. Student Officers of SCC who penned the best service paper and the best case study were awarded special prizes. The best Foreign Officer was also awarded a plaque as mentioned below.

The Deputy Commandant, Brigadier M R M R L B Meegasthanna USP ptsc and the Chief Instructor, Col B N S B Rangama RSP USP psc along with the Senior Instructors of respective courses gave away the certificates to the graduates. Towards the end of the graduation ceremony, the Commandant conveyed his warm wishes to all newly graduated officers while delivering the ‘Graduation Speech’ and inspired them to take over future challenges in the service. Further, he also urged them to continue learning while elevating their standards as professional officers of the developing Army. All faculty members and Permanent Staff members also attended the elegant function that is customarily held thrice a year.
