OFFICERS` TRAINING DAY SECOND QUARTER 2025 CONDUCTED AT RHQ VIR

Under the patronage of the Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (Central) and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major General Nalin Bandaranayake USP, the Officers’ Training Day for the second quarter of the year 2025 was successfully held at the Regimental Centre, the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 19 September 2025.

Following the set programme, the day's proceedings commenced with a morning physical training session at the Regimental Playground. The day’s first lecture was conducted on a timely and thought-provoking lecture on the topic" Social Perspectives and Role of Military " by Mr. Ajith Rohana, Senior Deputy Inspector General of North Western Province. This was followed by an informative session on "Welfare Facilities of Directorate of Welfare" conducted by Lt Col D P K de Silva RWP RSP. To further inspire and entertain, the film "Sisu" an ultra-violent action film about a lone Finnish prospector who unleashes relentless fury on Nazi soldiers to reclaim his stolen gold was screened at the Archers’ Cinema.

In line with the Officers’ Training Day, another successful Diners Club session was held at “The Salute” Multifunctional Hall, Boyagane with the participation of officers serving in various military establishments including officers of VIR Battalions. As the guest speaker of the night, Professor Prathiba Mahanamahewa, Attorney - at - Law conducted an informative and thought - provoking lecture on the topic “Rule of Law, National Security, and the Role of the Armed Forces in a Democratic Society”. Officers took the opportunity to share their views with the audience and had an interactive session with the guest speaker.

The Commander of 57 Infantry Division, Major General K D M L Samaradiwakara RWP RSP ndc psc, The Commandant of Ranaviru Apparels - Yakkala, Brigadier M A D J D Gunathilaka RSP USP, the Centre Commandant of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Brigadier I G J P K Thilakarathne USP, Senior Officers and Officers also participated in this event.
