THE NEWLY APPOINTED CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY FELICITATED AT THE VIJAYABAHU INFANTRY REGIMENT

A colourful felicitation ceremony was held on Friday, 28 June 2024 at the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment to salute the newly appointed Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army Major General Rohitha Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc at the Regimental Centre, Boyagane. The ceremony follows the military traditions, customs and ethics bringing the pride and honour to the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

As the first segment of the ceremony, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was warmly received upon his arrival at the Regimental Centre and was accorded a Guard Turnout at the main entrance in accordance with military formalities and then he paid floral tributes to the fallen Vijayabahu War Heroes at the War Heroes Monument` and PWV Monument. Simultaneously, the Chief of Staff accepted the regimental salute at the ceremonial Guard of Honour accorded inclusive of Regimental Colours at the regimental parade ground.

Thereafter, the Chief Guest posed for a group photograph with all officers who attended the event leaving indelible memories to the occasion. Afterwards, the Chief of Staff addressed all the troops at the Gymnasium and expressed his gratitude to the Centre Commandant and All Ranks for arranging such a wonderful felicitation ceremony in his respect. Later, a Sandal Wood sapling was planted at the Regimental Headquarters office premises in memory of this significant occasion.

Council Members, Centre Commandant, Deputy Centre Commandant, Senior officers, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Rankers were present at the event.
